The second album from spouses Raphael LaMotta and Dana Diaz-Tutaan reprises the freewheeling vibe of their debut, serving an eclectic brew of hip-hop, pop, and rock that echoes Beck without the self-conscious cool. In fact, the couple’s unfiltered enthusiasm for mixing sounds is almost giddy. From the gorgeous ballad “Big Adventures,” spotlighting Diaz-Tutaan’s diva dramatics—eat your heart out, Mariah Carey—to the goofball swagger of “Cubic Zirconia” to an eerie cover of R.E.M.‘s “Swan Swan H,” ApSci’s easy charm and subtle craftsmanship are consistently exhilarating.
