After forgettable forays into pleasant pop, John and Yoko’s kid may have found his niche with this head-spinning score for a vampire comedy flick of the same name. A touch campy yet oddly compelling, Lennon’s kaleidoscope of spooky sounds works as a single suite, deploying everything from dreamy piano and funereal organ to anxious strings and wistful wordless voices. Recommended to fans of Nino Rota’s elegant Fellini soundtracks and Danny Elfman‘s zany collaborations with Tim Burton.
