On Friday, Gawker Media filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy and announced it was putting itself up for auction. The development comes a month after the company lost a $140 million libel lawsuit against Hulk Hogan. Soon after, it was revealed that PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel has been secretly funding the lawsuit.
