Immigration from Southern Asia and the Caribbean has drastically changed the face of Britain in recent decades, and a recent survey has revealed that the traditional British nuclear family, composed of married mum and dad with kids, is less and less common — and is most likely to be found not among whites, but among those of Asian ancestry, reports the GUARDIAN (UK).

Perhaps emulating the royal family, white Britons are increasingly likely to divorce, cohabit without marrying, and have kids out of wedlock. Immigrants from Caribbean countries have even higher rates of single parenthood and cohabitation — higher in Britain, in fact, than in the Caribbean.

Immigrants from Asian countries like India, Pakistan, and Bengladesh, on the other hand, are far more likely to form traditional families, managing to get married and stay married more often than do their white compatriots.
